Our Staff

Dairy Grazing Alliance is led by Joe Tomandl, a fourth-generation dairy farmer in central Wisconsin. Joe is founder and executive director of the Dairy Grazing Alliance and the Dairy Grazing Apprenticeship. Joe and his wife, Christy, were honored to receive the 2022 Wisconsin Leopold Conservation Award in recognition of their commitment to managed grazing practices on their dairy farms to benefit the environment, rural communities and future generations.

In addition to Joe, the Alliance has 11 full- and part-time staff who are experts in grass-based dairy and building the sector. Our team is passionate about leading, operating and funding the Alliance, the Dairy Grazing Apprenticeship, and
other associated programs.

We also have part-time Education Coordinators located nationwide to support the Apprenticeship program.
