Certified Organic Grass Dairy

Murphy's Grass Farm is a 100 cow semi seasonal 500 acre organic certified grass farm in western NY. Milk quality is a high priority. We feed 5-10 pounds of grain per day only to milking cows and small calves.

We have built our own parlor, lanes fences etc over the past 15 years. We make hay and spread manure so there is some equipment experience available.

Our cattle are mostly cross bred. We use mostly A.I we have selected and bred for durability, immune strength, A2, calving ease, and to some extent functional type. Cows have been scored for aAa, so next breeding can use matched sires.

Our next phase is to develop higher quality and higher yielding grass and forage thru fertility, drainage and improved seedings. This would be a good time for an Apprentice to experience and learn first hand.

We enjoy teaching and seeing people grow. Our industry needs to grow. The world needs more graziers.
