Wisconsin Organic Grass Dairy

In 1998, I purchased 35 cows and 80 acre farm in central Wisconsin after a short career as high school agriculture instructor. The past 21 years have brought numerous changes in cow management and facilities. My home farm consists of 170 milking cows and young stock on 320 acres of pasture. A second farm was added in 2010.

Legacy Grass Dairy LLC

The second farm is a 200 acre 175 cow dairy operation with a swing 24 milking parlor, sandbedded freestall, and liquid manure storage. There is housing on the property for a herdsman/ manager.

I am the Executive Director of DGA and a firm believer that hands on education is the key to new farm startups. My business model is to use managed grazing to duplicate rather than double the size of my farm in one location. It takes a skilled person to manage one of these farms.

Both dairies are predominantly seasonal calving and have converted to organic production.
