Crossbred Herd on Pasture

At Birds All Dairy, we graze and milk 40-50 cows on a 300 acre farm which is comprised of 130 acres of hardwoods, 125 acres of pasture, the balance in swamp ground in NY. A portion of the pasture is irrigated with a Kifco Reel by gravity flow and powered by solar panels.

The herd is comprised of crossbreds freshened from Feb.-May. We raise our own replacements, make baleage from excess pasture and purchase all grain and any additional hay as needed. As our five children are grown and have pursued other careers, we find ourselves positioned to share our knowledge, our farm, and our workload to those who possess a “fire in their belly” for milking cows and, hopefully, the joy that dairying has brought us since 1993.

We are seeking to hone the skills of future dairy graziers. Cattle ownership, farm rental are just a few possibilities. Bring your hard work, your motivation, and your best ideas!
