Farm Assistant (Assistant Herdsman)
A Roaming Pastures Co-op Farm Assistant is given the opportunity to learn both the pasture management and herd management skills necessary to operate a pasture based dairy. Roaming Pastures dairies include an average herd size of 600 milking cows, grazing 450 acres, and milked in a 40 a side herring bone cow shed. Our farm assistants typically work an eleven on, three off roster with fifteen days per year of paid time off. In addition, the farm assistants are offered health insurance, life insurance, and access to health savings account including a matching contribution by the company after 90 days employment.
