Sarah Littlefield

Board Member

Sarah Littlefield has been a DGA board member since 2018. She has had a passion for cows since she was a kid. She credits her parents for supporting and encouraging her passion, enrolling her in 4-H, connecting her with mentors, and encouraging her to study dairy science in college.

Today, she is Executive Director of the Maine Dairy Promotion Board and Maine Dairy & Nutrition Council, roles she has held since 2018. Prior to this, Sarah spent three years managing the organic dairy and Dairy Grazing Apprenticeship program at Wolfe’s Neck Center for Agriculture & the Environment in Freeport, Maine.

Professionally, Sarah strives to keep the farmer’s voice in the room at all times and emphasizes the importance of all dairy management styles.

She is at home on the farm with her partner, Peter, who owns and operates a dairy in Livermore, Maine with his sister and parents. Together, they milk 80 Ayrshires, Holsteins and Jerseys and manage nearly 500 certified-organic acres. They are enrolled as a DGA Mentor farm.

Sarah joined DGA’s board after mentoring DGA Apprentices at Wolfe’s Neck. She was drawn to becoming a mentor because of great mentors in the industry who have helped her. After having the chance to mentor multiple Apprentices to graduation, she wanted to stay involved in DGA, even though her work was changing. While the Apprenticeship is what first drew her attention, DGA’s growth and potential to make a bigger difference in the industry are what keep Sarah engaged.
