Bradford County Grazier Meeting | Troy Firehall, 88 Firehouse Drive Troy, PA 16947

Join graziers from Bradford County, and beyond, for a regional grazier meeting in Troy, PA, on March 28. Retired Wisconsin dairy farmer Altfrid Krusenbaum will present on optimizing pasture forage to decrease feeding costs, and host a conversation about training the next generation of dairy farmers in America. Farmer and NRCS technical specialist JB Harrold will present on raising contract organic dairy cow heifers on his farm, in western PA.

This meeting is suitable for anyone grazing livestock interested in improving their pastures and general farm design. Lunch is included.

Altfrid Krusenbaum and his wife Sue developed and operated Krusen Grass Farms, LLC, a 450-acre certified organic Dairy and Beef operation from 1990 until 2015. They milked 140 cows, raised 80 heifers and 40 steers a year for direct marketing certified organic grass-fed and grass-finished beef.

Since 2015 and his retirement from dairy farming, Altfrid Krusenbaum has worked for the Dairy Grazing Apprenticeship Program, currently in the role of On Farm Education Director. Altfrid also has his own consulting business, Krusen Grass Consulting. In that capacity he serves Yggdrasil Land Foundation as a Land Manager for their Wisconsin properties. He also consults various organic dairy and beef producers in the Midwest.

JB Harrold grew up on a dairy farm in western Pennsylvania. As a farmer and NRCS grazing specialist, JB was instrumental in the formation of Project Grass in the state, and continues to help lead this work surrounding his western PA base. In addition to grazing, JB is also passionate about training the next generation of farmers, for the good of our lands and our communities.
